چکیده
Introduction The presence of vasa previa carries a high risk for severe fetal morbidity and mortality due to bleeding caused by injury unprotected vessels when rupture membranes occurs. Previously, it has been shown that prenatal diagnosis significantly improves the outcome. However, systematic screening is not generally performed clinical studies demonstrating performance in routine practice are rare. objective this study was assess determining placental cord insertion at 20-week anomaly scan. Material methods This retrospective 6038 pregnant women between 18+0 24+0 gestational weeks who were prospectively screened depiction site Pregnancies with marginal or velamentous underwent vaginal sonography examination previa. In cases succenturiate bilobed placentas, bridging depicted, if necessary. Results There 21 all diagnosed prenatally. 18 cases, velamentous. remaining three had anomalies, which necessitated detailed examination. All pregnancies delivered mean 35.2 (SD 1.8) cesarean section. Among affected previa, fetuses survived. median birthweight 2390 g (range 1200–2990 g) umbilical artery pH 7.34 0.04). 5-min APGAR score nine 7–10). None neonates died required blood transfusions. whole cohort complicated neonatal demise ?5 and/or an ?7.10, loss excluded as cause poor obstetric Conclusions Screening feasible efficient, taking into account placenta placenta.

Abnormal Placentation: Placenta Previa, Vasa Previa, and Placenta Accreta.
Placental disorders such as placenta previa, placenta accreta, and vasa previa are all associated with vaginal bleeding in the second half of pregnancy. They are also important causes of serious fetal and maternal morbidity and even mortality. Moreover, the rates of previa and accreta are increasing, probably as a result of increasing rates of cesarean delivery, maternal age, and assisted repro...
متن کاملMEDICAL PRACTICE Vasa Previa Diagnosis and Management
Introduction: Vasa previa is an uncommon obstetrical complication that poses a high risk of fetal demise if not recognized before rupture of membranes. It is vital that providers recognize risk factors for vasa previa and diagnose this condition before the onset of labor so that fetal shock or demise is prevented. Methods: We report a patient with a bilobed placenta and perinatal hemorrhage cau...
متن کاملChallenges in Diagnosis of Pseudo Vasa Previa
Vasa previa is a rare but clinically important obstetrical complication that can be associated with a low-lying placenta or placenta previa. We aim to convey the challenges in diagnosing this condition by presenting 2 cases of pseudo vasa previa diagnosed antenatally as vasa previa using standard and color Doppler ultrasonography. Both patients were falsely diagnosed; only a low-lying placenta ...
متن کاملVasa praevia: ultrasound diagnosis at the mid‐trimester scan
Background: Vasa praevia is a condition in which fetal vessels, unsupported by the umbilical cord or placenta, run on the fetal membranes in the lower uterine segment near the cervix. Rupture of these vessels prior to or at the time of delivery is associated with a very high perinatal mortality rate. Antenatal diagnosis of this condition with ultrasound is readily available, alters management a...
متن کاملNatural history of vasa previa across gestation using a screening protocol.
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to estimate the prevalence and persistence rate of vasa previa in at-risk pregnancies using a standardized screening protocol. METHODS We conducted a descriptive study of patients with a diagnosis of vasa previa from a single ultrasound unit between June 2005 and June 2012. Vasa previa was defined as a fetal vessel within 2 cm of the internal cervical ...
